In 2005, Rod DeWitt, plant engineer at the Anderson Valley Brewing

Company (AVBC) asked close friend Darrell if he could assemble a

group of musicians from the Humboldt County area to play at the next

annual Legendary Boonville Beer Festival in Boonville, California.

Drawing from the large musical population in the Humboldt area,

Darrell gathered a small group to entertain the large crowd at the 9th annual

Legendary Boonville Beer Festival in 2006.

The first group carried tales of free-flowing beer back to their

friends, adding to the mystique of this popular West Coast beer fest.

The Firkin Tappers have appeared at the Anderson Valley Brewing

Company Beer Festival every year since 2006.
